Ukrainian prosecutors reveal details of Russian strike on Kharkiv
Russian troops struck Kharkiv and its suburbs with five guided aerial bombs. Two bombs hit the territory of the Derhachi community, while three landed in Kharkiv. A criminal case has been opened for violations of the laws and customs of war, according to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors reported that around 11:00 p.m. (Kyiv time) on October 2, Russians launched five guided bombs from two Su-34 aircraft from Russia's Stroitel, Belgorod region, targeting Kharkiv and its outskirts. Preliminary data suggests the bombs were UMPB D-30SNs. Air defense systems tracked their speed at 600 km/h.
In Kharkiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district, two bombs hit open areas.
In Saltivskyi district, an aerial bomb struck a five-story residential building, injuring ten people, including a three-year-old child.
Prosecutors and police investigators are working at the scene to document the war crime.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 438 (Violation of the Laws and Customs of War) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
At 12:30 a.m. on October 3, firefighters from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine completely extinguished a fire covering an area of 65 square meters in a five-story residential building. Emergency rescue operations at the impact site are ongoing.
Earlier, late on October 2, explosions were heard in Kharkiv during an air raid alert. Russia attacked the city with guided bombs. A five-story residential building was hit, sparking a fire. Ten people were injured.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the facade and four apartments on the fourth and fifth floors were destroyed. Residents are being evacuated.
