Russia strikes residential building in Kharkiv, residents evacuated
Evacuations are underway for residents of a five-story building in Saltivka, Kharkiv, which was hit by a Russian-guided bomb. Rescuers are searching for people trapped under the rubble, according to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration and Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
Residents of nearby buildings, whose apartments were damaged by the explosion, are also being evacuated. Those in need will be offered temporary accommodation in city dormitories.
Hundreds of windows were shattered by the blast. Five buildings have lost power.
A relief point will be set up near the impact site where residents can get hot tea and snacks, Mayor Ihor Terekhov announced.
Additionally, the number of injured has risen to ten, including a three-year-old child, he said.
Oleh Syniehubov reported that there may still be people trapped under the rubble of the building destroyed by Russian troops. Rescue operations are ongoing.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), the facade and four apartments on the fourth and fifth floors were destroyed. The structural elements of the building caught fire, along with two cars, covering an area of 65 square meters.

Earlier, late on October 2, explosions were heard in Kharkiv during an air raid alert. Russia launched an attack on the city using guided bombs, with a direct hit on a residential five-story building that ignited a fire.
