Ukrainian President reveals details of conversation with Orban
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed details of his conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, according to a video statement by the head of state.
According to Zelenskyy, the bilateral discussion centered around the European affairs of the two nations.
"On the sidelines of the inauguration (of the Argentine president), I spoke with Prime Minister Orban of Hungary. We had a candid and clear discussion about our European matters," stated the President of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy's visit to Argentina
On November 10, President Zelenskyy visited Argentina on a working trip. He traveled to Buenos Aires to attend the inauguration of the Argentine president.
While in Argentina, Volodymyr Zelenskyy had the opportunity to engage in discussions with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban.
During the visit, it was also announced that the President of Ukraine will travel to the United States on Monday, December 11, where he will meet with U.S. President Joe Biden.
Hungary opposes negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU
In early November, the European Commission recommended initiating negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. However, Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó, promptly stated that his country opposes the opening of such discussions.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán urged EU officials not to raise the issue of Ukraine's accession at the upcoming summit. Furthermore, the Hungarian Prime Minister threatened to block decisions regarding the start of negotiations on Ukraine's Eurointegration at the EU summit scheduled for December 14-15.
