Ukrainian pilots start training on F-16s in Romania
There will be more F-16 fighters in the Ukrainian sky. A group of Ukrainian pilots has already begun training in Romania, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
"I had a productive phone call with Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tîlvăr. A key topic was strengthening the protection of Ukrainian airspace from Russian missiles and drones," the Minister reported.
Umerov noted that Ukraine will soon receive a new Patriot air defense system from Romanian partners.
"The number of F-16s in Ukrainian skies will also increase: a group of our pilots is already undergoing training in Romania. I thanked my Romanian counterpart, as well as the people and government of his country, for their support and strengthening of our air defense," he emphasized.
In July this year, the European F-16 training center in Romania prepared the first group of pilots.
Last month, there was information online that Ukrainian pilots were already training on F-16 fighters in Romania. However, the country's Ministry of Defense then stated that this was a fake.
