Ukrainian Navy warns of possible missile strike as Russians deploy Kalibr carrier to Black Sea
This morning, August 29, a Russian vessel equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles was spotted in the Black Sea. Russia has deployed this ship for combat duty in the area, according to the Ukrainian Navy.
The military specified that this could lead to a potential missile salvo of up to four Kalibrs from the Black Sea.
In contrast, there are no Russian vessels present in the Azov Sea.
However, in the Mediterranean Sea, three hostile ships have been detected, including one that is a Kalibr carrier capable of launching up to eight missiles.
The Ukrainian Navy also reported that within the past 24 hours, in Russia’s interest, the following vessels passed through the Kerch Strait:
- to the Black Sea - 5 vessels, 3 of which continued towards the Bosporus Strait;
- to the Azov Sea - 8 vessels, 6 of which were moving from the Bosporus Strait.
"Russia continues to violate the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by disabling Automatic Identification Systems (AIS)," the Ukrainian Navy added.
It is worth noting that during the recent massive combined attack on August 26, Russia used a naval group in the Black Sea consisting of four ships. These vessels launched 28 Kalibr missiles, all of which were intercepted by Ukrainian air defense.
Following this, Russian missile carriers were again detected in the Black Sea.
Additionally, on August 26, Defense Express reported that the Russian missile ship Amur, which can launch Kalibrs, had been deployed to the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy. This ship was previously spotted in the Black Sea.
