Ukrainian MoD has candid talk with Hungarian counterpart: Discussed topics
Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov had a phone conversation today, on December 11, with his Hungarian counterpart, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, according to the social media page of Ukraine's defense chief.
"Just had a frank phone conversation with my Hungarian colleague Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky," the message reads.
Umerov thanked Hungary for its support to Ukraine in demining and medicine, expressing hope for further cooperation.
"I also invited the Minister to Kyiv," added Umerov.
Hungary's stance on aiding Ukraine
Hungary has essentially condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine but has not been actively involved in providing assistance to Kyiv. Recently, Budapest has regularly voiced the need to reduce aid to Ukraine.
The Guardian reported that allies of Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán would hold a closed meeting with Republicans in Washington to push for an end to U.S. military support for Ukraine.
Additionally, Reuters mentioned that the European Union would find a way to provide financial assistance to Ukraine, even if Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán vetoed the allocation of 50 billion euros.
