Ukrainian Ministry of Defense states readiness to share combat experience with NATO
On Wednesday, January 29, the Ukrainian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Melnyk participated in the meeting of the NATO National Reserve Forces Committee (NCR) and the Confederation of Reserve Officers of NATO Countries (CIOR). During the event, it was announced that Ukraine is ready to share its combat experience with the military bloc, according to the Ministry of Defense's website.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian side shared its experience in organizing defense, staffing, and training reserve forces under the conditions of a full-scale war.
"Cooperation with CIOR and NRFC helps us strengthen Ukraine's defence system and adapt it to NATO standards. We also have our own unique combat experience that we are ready to share. And this is not about theoretical developments, but real cases tested by war," emphasized Melnyk.
Meanwhile, Rutte, in his speech, highly praised Ukraine's efforts in building a national resistance system.
The key topics of the meeting included deepening cooperation between Ukraine and NATO in the field of reserve forces, exchanging experiences in training reservists and organizing defense, as well as opportunities for integrating Ukrainian approaches into the Alliance's defense planning system.
The Ukrainian side also expressed its readiness to expand cooperation with other NATO structures.
Russia opposes Ukraine's NATO membership
Recently, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko claimed that Ukraine's potential NATO membership allegedly makes it impossible to achieve peace in Ukraine.
In response, Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi harshly reacted to these statements, calling them complete bullsh*t.
Earlier, in October 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the majority of NATO countries support inviting Ukraine to join. However, Ukraine does not consider the possibility of joining the Alliance in exchange for relinquishing Russian-occupied territories.
