Ukrainian Minister tells about Ukraine's expectations from NATO summit in Washington
At the NATO summit in Washington, DC, to be held on July 9-11, Ukraine expects its Western partners to make strategic decisions on air and missile defense, according to the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna.
“We are preparing quite intensively for the NATO summit. A day ago, I had a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, where I presented our expectations from the NATO summit. We are also preparing a bilateral decision, a special statement of the NATO-Ukraine Council,” Stefanishyna said.
According to her, a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of the leaders of the countries will be held as part of the summit. Accordingly, there will be a joint statement.
“We emphasize that the summit should become a platform for making strategic decisions on Ukraine's air and missile defense. Relevant consultations are ongoing. We are testing the Alliance's ability to coordinate its efforts and close the sky of Ukraine either through bilateral decisions or more comprehensive solutions,” the Minister said.

The NATO anniversary summit will be held in Washington on July 9-11.
According to US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, assistance to Ukraine will be one of the key issues at the summit. In particular, further arms supplies will be discussed during the event.
Earlier, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, said that Ukraine expects historic decisions at the NATO summit.
