Ukrainian MFA intrigues with 'historical decisions' after talks with US Secretary of State
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The parties discussed steps that would lead to historic decisions, according to the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Twitter (X).
According to Sybiha, the talks with Blinken were productive and took place within the framework of regular dialogue.
The Ukrainian minister emphasized that during the negotiations, he and the Secretary of State analyzed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the US and "coordinated further steps that will lead to historic decisions, and bring our victory closer."
What preceded it
It should be noted that one of the main issues regarding US assistance to Ukraine is the permission for strikes deep into Russia using the provided weapons.
Ukrainian officials have repeatedly urged the US to allow such attacks, as this would enable the Armed Forces of Ukraine to target airfields and other important objectives on Russian territory.
It was expected that the US would announce the lifting of restrictions on Ukrainian military strikes against military targets in Russia following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit, but this did not happen.
Recently, MP and Deputy Head of the Committee on National Security and Defense of the Verkhovna Rada Yehor Chernev predicted that the US would make such a decision only after the presidential elections scheduled for November.
