The US decision to lift restrictions on Ukraine regarding strikes against Russia with long-range missiles is still "on the table." The decision is likely to come after the election in the US, according to MP and Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Yehor Chernev.

Signals have been sent from the US that a decision to allow strikes against Russia with the provided weapons would come. However, this did not happen during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the US.

“This permission is still on the table. It is not dismissed as entirely unacceptable. Will this decision be made before the elections? I am not sure. After the election, it is quite likely,” the MP said.

In Chernev's opinion, the lack of a decision from the US could have various reasons, including Russia's cooperation with Iran.

Background

The US and the UK, which have supplied Ukraine with long-range missiles, do not allow their use for strikes against military targets in Russia. Ukraine is urging the lifting of this restriction.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that strikes against Russia are measures taken for self-defense. He calls for a timely decision, as Russia is moving targets deeper into its territory.

Recently, the UK stated a decision on lifting restrictions was expected before the onset of winter.
