Ukrainian intelligence head on whether ATACMS will destroy Crimean bridge: Only question is their quantities
The Russian Federation seized the Crimean peninsula to turn it into a huge military base. This allows it to control most of Ukraine's southern coastline, states Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
According to Budanov, if the Russians on the Crimean peninsula are cut off from resupply, it will help force them to submit. The DIU chief agreed with former US Army Europe Commander Ben Hodges that this would be the key to forcing Putin to defend himself.
"I share the opinion of Gen. Hodges, absolutely. So we need to do everything to implement it," Budanov said.
He believes that the long-range ATACMS missiles that the US has provided to Ukraine could eventually destroy the Crimean Bridge. According to him, those who claim that ATACMS is not powerful enough to do the job are wrong.
"They should read the technical manuals. The only question is their quantities, but principally speaking, these missiles will allow us to fulfill such a mission," Budanov emphasized.
ATACMS for Ukraine
At the beginning of the year, it became known that US President Joe Biden had approved the transfer of more than 100 longer-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, which had already been used on the battlefield. Later, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that the United States would provide Ukraine with as many ATACMS missiles as it could.
At the same time, on the night of May 30, the Ukrainian military struck with ATACMS missiles at the Kerch ferry crossing, which was actively used by the enemy to supply its troops in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
