Ukrainian intelligence exposes Russia's use of chemical weapons

Ukrainian intelligence has received confirmation that Russian forces have used chemical weapons on the front line, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
In particular, in a radio intercept, one of the commanders of the Russian army is heard discussing preparations to use chemical weapons — banned under international conventions — against the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
"I'm about to poison them with gas in the basement," he says.
After that, the Russian military orders his subordinates to finish off the Ukrainian defenders who were affected by the gas.
"If I can’t do it myself — finish them off after the gas, while they’re still coughing and can’t see — finish them quickly after that," he says.
The Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine emphasizes that every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people will be met with just retribution.
Earlier, the intelligence agency reported that Russian forces have been systematically using chemical agents on the front line. In particular, there has been a growing number of confirmed cases of the enemy using munitions filled with poisonous gas in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In addition, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OZHZ) has released a report confirming the presence of a toxic substance in samples collected from the combat zone in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
These reports analyze incidents involving the use of gas near the villages of Mariivka and Illinka in 2024.
