Russia uses Japanese and Chinese machine tools in the production of guided missiles, rockets, and artillery ammunition, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR).
"The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine has released new information about foreign equipment used by Russia in the production of UMPC modules, missiles, and artillery ammunition," HUR says.
The information was gathered by participants in an international OSINT hackathon held on the first anniversary of the War&Sanctions portal.
In particular, teams and independent investigators from Ukraine and abroad:
- identified Okuma (Japan) and Hision (China) machining centers on the production line of universal planning and correction modules for aerial bombs of the Russian corporation Tactical Missile Weapons;
- discovered that JSC TsNII Burevestnik manufactures stabilizers for mortar rounds on a Performa vertical machining center from Taiwanese manufacturer AKIRA SEIKI;
- identified Russian companies that, after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, supplied the Votkinsk Plant (manufacturer of Iskander and Oreshnik missiles) with Chinese KEDE and WMT machine tools and Taiwanese ECOM VL-12i milling machining centers.
The data obtained is already being used to formulate sanctions initiatives and restrict the production capacity of the Russian military-industrial complex.
Earlier, HUR reported on 68 new components found in Russian missiles and drones used by the enemy to attack energy facilities.
The Russian turbojet Shahed also contains components from the US, China, Switzerland, and other countries.
