Former Ukrainian Ground Forces Commander makes statement on resignation after talk with Zelenskyy

Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, stated that he had a lengthy conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They discussed the Russian strike on a training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
"I had a lengthy conversation with the President. I reported everything that is currently known about the tragedy at the training ground — every step: who was present, who was responsible for the personnel, who was supposed to act," Drapatyi wrote.
He informed President Zelenskyy of the reasons behind his decision to resign from the position of Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
"The President listened, supported me, and suggested focusing on what matters most — the war, the front, and victory. I am grateful to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief for his trust, for our shared understanding of responsibility, and for the vision of the changes our army needs," the general wrote.
He stated that it is now necessary to change the internal culture of the military, including how commanders treat their soldiers, fulfill their duties, and value the life of every Ukrainian warrior.
"I received a new assignment from the President. I remain in service. On the front line. Where I need to be. Where I can do the most," Drapatyi emphasized.
