Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will meet with Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó to discuss agenda issues, according to Sybiha's post on X.

Sybiha mentioned that he had a constructive conversation with Szijjártó on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue in India.

“We agreed to hold a separate bilateral meeting soon to have a thorough discussion of all issues on our agenda,” the Ukrainian Foreign Minister clarified.

He did not specify the topics of discussion. However, recently, the Hungarian government has openly opposed Ukraine’s EU membership.

In particular, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán presented 12 demands to Brussels, one of which was to abandon plans to admit Ukraine to the EU.

Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership cannot start yet due to Hungary’s position, which is blocking the process.

Hungary also threatened to block the conclusions of the European Council regarding Ukraine, claiming they contradict its position.

Hungary's scandalous actions

Hungary recently blocked the extension of EU sanctions against Russia. It demanded that several individuals be removed from the sanctions list.

As the FT found out, it was, in particular, about Russian oligarch Mikhail Fridman.

According to Western media, Hungary stopped blocking the extension of sanctions after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.
