Ukraine has hopeful expectations for the upcoming summit of the European Council, that will take place next week on February 1, reports the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, during a joint press conference with the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Gabrielius Landsbergis.
"Together, we have hopeful expectations for the upcoming European Council meeting on February 1. There is progress regarding the opening of the European Peace Fund, which had been blocked for a long time due to the positions of certain members of the European Union. However, we are working to unblock it and have hopeful steps in that direction," said Kuleba.
He noted that he also discussed Ukraine's future membership in the EU and NATO with the Lithuanian minister. The Foreign Minister acknowledged Lithuania's assistance, as a member of both institutions.
Additionally, Kuleba expressed gratitude to Lithuanian diplomats in Washington who work with both parties in the U.S. Congress to help pass necessary decisions regarding aid to Ukraine.
