Ukrainian forces thwarted an attempted Russian assault on ATVs in the direction of Yampil, according to the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russia tried to take advantage of difficult weather conditions — heavy snowfall, squally winds, and near-zero visibility — to quietly advance its assault group. Due to the bad weather, aerial reconnaissance was limited, and Russian troops hoped to pass unnoticed.

"The group was spotted on the road to Yampil. The pilots of the SIGNUM battalion immediately sprang into action. They worked in pairs — precisely, coolly, without chaos. Coordination, experience, and teamwork yielded results," the video caption reads.

As a result, the assault was completely thwarted. Russia's manpower was destroyed, and its equipment was burned.

Yampil

The village of Yampil is located in the north of the Donetsk region, near the Sloviansk section of the front line.

It is of strategic importance due to its location on transport routes and its proximity to key settlements in the Donetsk region.

Situation in Yampil

Earlier, there were reports of attempts by Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to gain a foothold near Yampil. On September 28, the Russians claimed to have advanced within this settlement in the Donetsk region.

Ukraine's 11th Army Corps refuted these reports, calling them part of an information war and an attempt to sow panic among the population. Ukrainian military emphasized that Yampil is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and all attempts by saboteurs to break through are promptly stopped.

Subsequently, on October 4, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced that the situation in this area had stabilized. On October 6, a spokesperson for the East military group, Hryhorii Shapoval, reported that Russian sabotage groups that had managed to infiltrate the Yampil area had been eliminated.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops are trying to bypass Ukrainian positions and penetrate directly into the city. Currently, the situation there is complicated by large areas of combat uncertainty and the active use of drones.
