Russian propaganda claims its forces advanced in the village of Yampil in the Donetsk region, but reports about gains near Lyman are fake, according to the 11th Army Corps of Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Corps said the Russian army had made improving its tactical position near Yampil a top priority. Ukraine's Defense Forces redeployed troops to block those plans.

To support their offensive actions, Russian propaganda outlets are spreading false claims of an advance in Yampil.

"This is another attempt to spread panic and mislead the population," the military said.

What is really happening:

  • Yampil remains under the control of Ukraine's Defense Forces;
  • Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are neutralized in time;
  • Russian troops have achieved no tactical success.

The situation near Yampil, Donetsk region

Almost two weeks ago, reports said Russian forces managed to infiltrate the settlement using tactics that directly violated the Geneva Conventions.

Russian troops disguised themselves in civilian clothes, posing as residents. They tried to secure positions by hiding in basements and houses. Some of the saboteurs were killed, while others were captured.

Despite being a small settlement, Yampil has strategic importance in the situation in the northern Donetsk region. Its loss would open the road for Russian forces to Lyman and Sloviansk.

According to the General Staff, the hottest directions on the front remain Lyman, Toretsk, Pokrovsk, and Novopavlivka. In the Novopavlivka direction, Russian troops are trying to push into the Dnipropetrovsk region.

A critical situation has also developed in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region. More details are available in RBC-Ukraine's article "Logistics for Donbas: Why Russia is targeting Kupiansk and can Ukraine hold the city?
