Ukrainian forces strike Russian S-300 system in Belgorod region, says General Staff

On July 20, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck a Russian S-300P surface-to-air missile system in Russia’s Belgorod region. The Nebo-M radar complex was also hit, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"On July 20, Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a series of successful strikes against the enemy in various locations, continuing to focus efforts on weakening Russia’s military potential," the statement said.
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian long-range strike assets successfully hit the Russian S-300P system in Belgorod, significantly reducing the coverage area of Russian long-range air defense in the region.
In the same area, Ukrainian forces also targeted the Nebo-M radar complex, critically affecting its functionality and simultaneously reducing the operational capacity of the nearby 5N66M Big Bird radar station.
"These coordinated strikes significantly weaken Russia’s air defense system, reducing the enemy’s ability to shield its forces and infrastructure and aiding the operational efforts of Ukrainian units," the General Staff noted.
They also emphasized that disabling these systems directly supports Ukraine’s efforts to reduce Russia’s capability to wage aggressive war and launch attacks on civilians and civil infrastructure.
In addition, such strikes directly undermine Russia’s ability to project power, protect its troops, and sustain its illegal occupation of Ukrainian territory.
"The Defense Forces will continue to carry out operations aimed at disabling critical enemy systems that support the functioning of Russia’s war machine," the General Staff stated.
