Ukrainian forces push Russians to retreat after fierce battle near Pishchane, Donetsk region - DeepState
During an attempt by Russian forces to seize the village of Pishchane in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces inflicted a defeat on the enemy during the battle. Ukrainian defenders, conducting stabilization measures in the area at the time, forced the enemy to retreat, according to the DeepState.
According to analysts from DeepState, Russian forces near Pishchane began deploying assault groups to capture the village.
“It coincided with stabilization measures planned by our forces toward the village of Shevchenko,” the DeepState noted.
According to DeepState experts, the settlement of Shevchenko is located in the red zone on the combat map, meaning it is under enemy control.
“The approximate strength of both sides was equal. A clash ensued involving grenades, hand-held grenade launchers, and small arms. The Defense Forces engaged the enemy, forcing them to retreat to tree lines near Shevchenko,” the DeepState added.

Frontline situation and combats in Pokrovsk direction
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 276 combat engagements have occurred in the frontline since the start of the day, as reported in the evening update on December 14.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 41 enemy assaults, and seven more battles are ongoing. The military command reported that in this area, Russian forces launched attacks near the settlements of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Novyi Trud, Sukhyi Yar, Zelene, Pishchane, Petrivka, Shevchenko, Novotroitske, Ukrainka, and Novoolenivka.
Defense Forces stated that preliminary data indicates over 400 Russian forces were neutralized in the Pokrovsk direction in the past day, including 160 killed.
The enemy also lost one armored combat vehicle, seven vehicles, and three motorcycles. Additionally, one tank, one armored combat vehicle, and one vehicle were damaged.
Meanwhile, CNN reported that Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskiy has replaced General Oleksandr Lutsenko as the commander of the Donetsk Operational and Tactical Group. This change occurred amid the Russian offensive near Pokrovsk.
