In the Donetsk direction, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have stopped assault operations by Russian troops, according to Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces.
Operators of the 427th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment RAROG struck enemy tanks and armored vehicles and destroyed an MTU-20 tank bridge-layer.
According to the unit, the Russian equipment was intended to support the advance of tanks and armored vehicles toward Ukrainian positions. The destruction of the MTU-20 deprived enemy infantry groups of cover and made further offensive actions on this section of the front impossible.
The MTU-20 is a Soviet-era tank bridge-layer built on the T-55 tank chassis. The vehicle is designed to rapidly deploy a single-span metal bridge with a load capacity of up to 50 tons over obstacles up to 18 meters wide.
The unit emphasized that the systematic work of unmanned systems operators weakens Russia’s offensive capabilities and provides Ukraine’s Defense Forces with a tactical advantage in designated areas of the front.
Russian false claims about battlefield gains
Recently, Russian leader Vladimir Putin once again announced alleged “achievements” of his army in Ukraine, claiming the supposed “capture” of the city of Siversk in the Donetsk region.
Ukrainian military officials have denied these claims. While the situation in Siversk remains tense, Russian control over the city has not been confirmed. Ukrainian defenders continue fighting for the city and have eliminated numerous enemy attempts to break in.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Third Army Corps also debunked Russian claims about the alleged capture of Lyman in the Donetsk region.
In addition, Russian propaganda continues to spread false reports about “full control” over Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region. In reality, Ukrainian forces carried out a successful operation there and blocked Russian troops.
It was also previously reported that in the Siversk direction, units of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the 7th Assault Troops Corps continue to hold positions near Serebrianka despite difficult conditions and strained logistics.
