Ukraine's Defense Forces have destroyed a Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile system located in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

"On August 2, the Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out a high-precision strike on Russian military targets in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region. Due to the operation, using long-range firepower, a Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile system was destroyed," the statement says.

The elimination of this target significantly reduces the enemy's long-range firepower and weakens its ability to shell positions of Ukraine's Defense Forces as well as civilian infrastructure in the region.

The General Staff emphasized that this strike once again proves the effectiveness and precision of Ukrainian units in detecting and striking critically important enemy targets, even in temporarily occupied territories.

"The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue the systematic destruction of key elements of Russia's military potential, which weakens the enemy's ability to wage war, hold illegally seized territories, and sustain the occupation," the Ukrainian military added.

Successful Ukrainian strikes

Earlier today, the General Staff reported that on August 3, Ukrainian drones struck the fuel depot at Sochi Airport, causing a large fire.

On July 20, Ukrainian troops hit a S-300P air defense system in Russia's Belgorod region. The Nebo-M radar complex was also targeted during that operation.
