Ukrainian forces have made gains in two sectors of the front line, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Where Ukrainian forces advanced

In the Borova direction, Ukrainian units made localized advances and repelled enemy counterattacks.

Meanwhile, Russian forces in the Kupiansk area continue attempts to infiltrate in small groups from both banks of the Oskil River, but without significant results.

The Russian command has been forced to deploy rear and non-combat units to compensate for losses in assault operations.

Analysts recorded Ukrainian successes in the Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka tactical area.

Ukrainian forces are holding their positions and striking command posts and personnel concentrations within 10 kilometers of the line of contact. The enemy is attempting to operate in small groups in urban areas but is facing counterattacks and drone strikes.

The overall situation on the front

In most other sectors — Lyman, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, and Zaporizhzhia — Russian forces are attacking but without confirmed advances.

In the Kherson region, there are no active ground battles, but Ukrainian forces struck the Chonhar Bridge between the occupied Kherson region and Crimea.

Due to the damage, traffic across the crossing has been temporarily restricted. The bridge is used to supply ammunition and fuel.

In May, Ukraine's Defense Forces liberated 100 square kilometers more territory than they lost.

Since the beginning of the year, the overall balance of liberated territory has exceeded 600 square kilometers, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that June and July could determine a great deal in the war. According to him, decisions at the EU, G7, and NATO summits could influence the diplomatic track and the conditions of a possible ceasefire.
