Russian leader Vladimir Putin has consistently made statements showing his unwillingness to end the war in Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated on X.
Sybiha noted that for two consecutive days, Putin has made statements indicating he does not intend to halt aggression against Ukraine.
For instance, the previous day, Putin publicly declared he is ready to "fight through the winter," and today he began threatening maritime ports and freedom of navigation, directing his threats at Odesa.
The Ukrainian diplomat emphasized that these threats are particularly notable given that US President Donald Trump had previously spoken about Odesa "with a lot of warmth."
Sybiha stressed that Russia must immediately stop the bloodshed it started. If Putin continues to ignore the demands of the international community and "spits into the world’s face once again, there must be consequences."
"Russia must stop wasting the world's time, which must be the time for peace," the diplomat said.
Additionally, Sybiha highlighted that Ukraine, the US, and European partners "have worked a lot and achieved important progress" in negotiations on the terms of a just peace. According to the Foreign Minister, the world must now put pressure on Russia to force it to end the war.
"Now it is time to force the source of war in Moscow to end it," Sybiha concluded.
On Tuesday, December 2, ahead of his meeting with the US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Russian leader Vladimir Putin declared that Russia is ready to fight Europe. According to him, "there can be no doubt" about Russia's military capability.
Meanwhile, US officials are actively engaging with both Ukraine and Russia to coordinate terms for ending the war.
