Ukrainian Flamingo missiles struck Russian targets in temporarily occupied Crimea, hitting a border guard base operated by Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), reports Militarnyi.

The missile strike destroyed a border outpost and a patrol boat base near Armyansk in Crimea. Sources told Militarnyi that the attack was carried out using Flamingo missiles, although earlier media reports had cited Neptune missiles.

On the morning of August 30, multiple missiles hit Russian facilities. Video posted online by the Ukrainian monitoring channel Nikolaevsky Vanyok shows three missiles launched from the Ukrainian coast. None were intercepted by Russian forces.

Satellite images released online show the main building of the outpost destroyed. The surrounding area is scorched by fire. Poor image quality prevents additional details from being seen.

Russian media reported that six hovercraft patrol boats were damaged and one Russian soldier was killed. They mistakenly attributed the attack to Ukrainian Neptune cruise missiles.

The Armyansk strike was part of a broader Ukrainian Defense Forces operation targeting Crimea. In Simferopol, two Russian helicopters were destroyed. The HUR special unit Ghosts reported the destruction of Russian air defense systems on the peninsula.

Flamingo missiles

Ukraine has recently begun serial production of the Flamingo cruise missiles. The weapon carries a warhead twice as powerful as the American Tomahawk missile. It successfully passed state trials.

Ukraine's Minister of Defense, Denys Shmyhal, called the weapon very powerful. He promised to reveal more details when a key moment arrives.
