According to the "Servant of the People" party's Telegram channel, the Verkhovna Rada Committee has removed the requirement for foreign movies to be shown without Ukrainian dubbing from the draft law on the implementation of the English language in Ukraine.

Yevheniya Kravchuk, Deputy Head of the "Servant of the People" Faction, noted that the committee unanimously recommended that the parliament support the first reading of bill No. 9432, which designates English as the language of international communication in Ukraine.

"We, along with our colleagues, have consulted with public organizations and experts several times regarding the risks of the bill concerning the protection of the Ukrainian language. That's why we have removed the requirement for mandatory demonstration of foreign movies without Ukrainian dubbing, for movies in their original English language," Kravchuk wrote.

According to her, this version of the bill will be considered in the session hall. Further discussions will take place before the second reading.

English language in Ukraine

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposes to officially establish the status of English as the language of international communication. Among other things, officials, police, and prosecutors will be required to understand and speak English, and foreign movies will be shown without Ukrainian dubbing.
