Ukrainian drones target oil refinery in Russia, sources say

Ukrainian drones have attacked the Kirishinefteorgsintez oil refinery in Russia's Leningrad region. The attack occurred during the night of March 8, according to RBC-Ukraine sources.
According to RBC-Ukraine sources in intelligence, a group of drones attacked the Kirishinefteorgsintez facility in the Kirishsky district of Russia's Leningrad region on the night of March 8.
Local social media reports indicate that explosions were heard at the site around six in the morning. It is reported that at least one of the facility's tanks was damaged as a result of the attack. The so-called governor of the region also confirmed the information about the attack.
It is known that Kirishinefteorgsintez is a major oil refinery in Russia and plays a role in supporting the Russian occupation army.
"Despite everything, the Main Intelligence Directorate continues to dismantle the aggressor's hydrocarbons sector, cutting off the 'lifeblood' of the Russian military machine," sources report.
Attack on the refinery in the Leningrad region
On the night of March 8, explosions were reported in Russia's Leningrad region. Social media users reported a drone attack on a local oil refinery.
The governor of the Leningrad region claimed that one drone was shot down on approach, while another was destroyed over the facility. According to the Russian official, the external structure of one of the tanks was damaged.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that air defense forces shot down 31 drones.
Footage of a fire at the Kirishnefteorgsintez (Kinef) refinery appeared online. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, noted that this is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia.
