Strike drones attacked an oil depot in the settlement of Matveyev Kurgan in Russia’s Rostov region. Published videos show thick smoke from the fire and drones flying overhead, according to Astra.

"In the settlement of Matveyev Kurgan, Rostov region, UAVs attacked, most likely targeting an oil depot. Earlier, at least two drones flew over the area," Astra reported.

It is noted that the Matveyev Kurgan oil depot, operational since 1955, supplies fuel to organizations across various sectors and also conducts retail fuel sales through its own gas stations.

"In the Matveyev Kurgan district, during the repulsion of the aerial attack, three drones were destroyed. In the settlement, the windows, facades, and roofs of several residential buildings, as well as five vehicles, were damaged. Information about casualties is being clarified," said Yury Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region.

It is worth noting that drone attacks on Russian refineries have caused a fuel shortage in Russia. Popular fuel types, Ai-92 and Ai-95, are often unavailable at gas stations.

The problem is particularly acute at private gas stations, which are not part of vertically integrated oil companies and face difficulties purchasing fuel due to reduced refining and high interest rates.

Strikes on refineries have reduced oil processing in Russia by almost one-fifth on some days and cut exports from key ports.

Thus, Ukraine is attempting to strike at the Kremlin’s war machine and force Russia into peace negotiations.
