Ukrainian drones strike major Russian oil refinery 1,500 km from border

Ukraine's Defense Forces struck the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in Russia's Orenburg region on the night of August 11, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
A fire was reported at the strategic facility as a result of the strike. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
The facility that was hit is one of the largest oil refineries in the Orenburg region and plays an important role in supplying Russia's fuel and energy sector. The plant has a capacity of about 6 million tonnes of oil per year.
The facility produces motor gasoline, diesel fuel, and aviation fuel. The plant also produces fuel oil, bitumen, and other types of petroleum products.
"Ukraine's Defense Forces will continue to systematically carry out measures aimed at ending the armed aggression of Russia," the General Staff said in a statement.
Earlier, the Komsomolsk oil refinery in Russia's Khabarovsk region was also struck by Ukrainian drones overnight.
The plant is one of the main suppliers of petroleum products to the Russian Far East. Its design capacity is 8.5 million tonnes of oil per year.
In addition, overnight, a Wildberries logistics complex caught fire in the Novousmansky district of Russia's Voronezh region. Residents reported explosions, while the company confirmed the evacuation of its employees.
