Ukrainian defenders attacked the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery in the city of Kstovo using drones. Dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles were used in the strike, according to sources in the Defense Intelligence.
According to sources, the attack took place on the night of November 4. The drones were operated by personnel from the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Special Operations Forces.
For the strike, the soldiers deployed over fifty Ukrainian-made drones, including the Bober and FP-1 models.
Sources clarified that the attack occurred while the rectification column, responsible for the primary processing of oil and previously damaged in earlier strikes, was under repair.
Several Russian Telegram channels also reported on the strike at the Kstovo refinery. Videos circulating online showed explosions and a fire at the facility.
Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez
Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, supplying, among other areas, the Moscow region, which accounts for about 30% of the country’s gasoline consumption.
The refinery’s crude oil processing capacity is approximately 17 million tons per year.
The plant produces more than 50 types of products, including automotive, aviation, and diesel fuels, as well as bitumen, paraffin, and other petroleum products.
Its products are actively used by Russian occupation forces and the country’s defense-industrial complex.
Night strike on Russia
Previously, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, reported that after a nighttime strike on Russia by unidentified drones, two enterprises immediately suspended operations.
Specifically, this included the Nizhny Novgorod refinery.
Additionally, some areas of the Kursk region began experiencing power supply issues.
