On the night of July 12, drones once again attacked a Russian tanker in the Sea of Azov, causing a fire on board, according to Yuriy Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region of Russia.
"As a result of the drone attack, the tanker was damaged while entering the Don-Azov Canal. There were no casualties. The fire that broke out has been contained. The vessel was empty, so there is no risk of an oil spill," the post states.
The official also claims that Taganrog and Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, as well as four districts—Azov, Neklinovka, Tarasovsky, and Millerovo—were targeted by drones.
According to him, Russian air defense forces allegedly managed to shoot down more than 20 drones. One of the highways was closed due to falling debris.
"Drone debris was found on the M4 Don highway at the 885 km mark heading south. There were no casualties. Traffic on this section has been blocked. The scene has been secured, and traffic is being rerouted through the village of Tarasovsky. Sappers are working at the scene," Slyusar concludes.
Large-scale strikes on Russian tankers
Yesterday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian Defense Forces had attacked as many as 21 Russian tankers, which Moscow uses for military logistics and to circumvent sanctions.
In addition, the Ukrainian military struck 4 tugboats, 2 dry cargo ships, and a dredger.
According to Robert Brovdi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Ukrainian troops have already attacked 76 Russian vessels between July 6 and 11.
