After an attack by Ukrainian drones, the Ryazan oil refinery stopped the operation of two units. The enterprise is currently functioning at only 48% of its full capacity, according to Reuters.

According to three industry sources, after the strikes, two main primary oil refining units were disabled – CDU-3 with a capacity of 8,600 tons per day and CDU-4 with a capacity of 11,400 tons per day.

Work continues on one unit

Currently, the plant continues to operate using the CDU-6 unit. Its capacity is 23,200 tons per day, which corresponds to approximately 48% of the enterprise’s total refining capacity.

According to industry sources, last year the plant processed 13.1 million tons of oil. At the same time, 2.3 million tons of gasoline, 3.4 million tons of diesel, 4.2 million tons of fuel oil, and 1 million tons of aviation fuel were produced.

Another plant damaged

In addition to the Ryazan refinery, the Novokuibyshevsk plant of Rosneft was also damaged by drone strikes. It completely ceased operations as of August 2.

The Ryazan oil refinery is under the control of Rosneft. The declared maximum possible processing volume of the refinery is 17–18 million tons of oil per year. The majority of petroleum products are exported.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on the night of August 2, Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out successful strikes on Russia. Hits on the Ryazan and Novokuibyshevsk oil refineries were confirmed.

In addition, drones struck an oil depot in Sochi.
