Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held an online conversation with EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis, focusing on Ukraine's crucial role in European security, Shmyhal reported.
During an online conversation with Valdis Dombrovskis, EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, the important role of Ukraine in the European security system was discussed, Shmyhal reported.
In particular, the minister said that they discussed the implementation of the €150 billion SAFE initiative, aimed at increasing the production capacity of Europe's defense industry.
"It is very important that Ukraine has access to European SAFE projects, and we are already cooperating with EU member states and institutions on such practical integration. Strengthening our state is a guarantee of security for the entire EU," Shmyhal noted.
He assured Dombrovskis that Ukraine is open to close cooperation with partners funded through SAFE and is also ready to jointly develop technologies that have proven effective on the battlefield.
"I thanked Valdis Dombrovskis for his personal involvement and support for Ukraine. We continue our effective cooperation to strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine and Europe," the defense minister added.
Ukraine is holding negotiations on launching defense production abroad for the needs of the country. Agreements have already been reached with several European countries.
