Ukrainian cyber attack: 100 Russian websites targeted
Ukrainian intelligence, along with cyber volunteers, attacked nearly 100 Russian websites, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine.
The agency noted that on July 15, 2024, a volunteer hacker community and cyber specialists from the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine attacked about 100 web resources in the aggressor state's space.
"Thus, as of July 16, 39 of the attacked Russian sites continue to be 'down,'" the intelligence agency reports.
The cyber attack aimed to destroy the internal information of companies serving clients from the Russian state sector involved in the war against Ukraine.
Specifically, the following were affected:
- "MITgroup" - a group of companies engaged in developing corporate websites.
- "Perm Plant of Industrial Equipment" - a company that manufactures and supplies lifting equipment for industrial facilities.
- "United Crane Technologies" - a trade and manufacturing company producing and selling lifting equipment.
- "RUMOS-LADA" - a dealer of LADA cars.
As a result of the cyber attack, the appearance of the aggressor's affected web resources underwent certain changes—now, instead of the usual sections for Muscovites, only a pig's head and the error code "404" can be seen on the sites.
Not the first incident
Recall that the day before in temporarily occupied Crimea, hackers from the Defense Intelligence attacked the servers of propaganda media, telecom operators, and the registration and control systems of traffic on the Crimean Bridge.
Recently, it was also reported that one of the largest internet providers in Moscow and the region, Rialcom, might go bankrupt due to a hacker attack by Ukrainian intelligence.
