Ukraine has received a new Patriot air defense system this week, following recent talks with the German government, The Telegraph reports.

According to the media outlet, after US President Donald Trump announced a $10 billion aid package for Ukraine and threatened to impose strict trade tariffs against Russia and countries purchasing its energy resources, a new Patriot system arrived in Ukraine by the end of that same week.

"By the end of that week, a Patriot air defense system and more interceptors had already arrived in Ukraine, thanks to a deal with Germany," the outlet's sources said.

Patriot for Ukraine

Not long ago, US President Donald Trump announced the transfer of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine at the expense of NATO allies. He stated that Kyiv would receive 17 systems.

Moreover, at the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, participants promised Kyiv assistance in strengthening its air defense.

The German Defense Minister reported that his country is ready to provide two Patriot systems. However, Boris Pistorius immediately warned that this is possible only on the condition of their rapid replacement.

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans also announced that his country is ready to make an important contribution to the transfer of American systems to Ukraine.

Also, on July 22, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Berlin and Norway would make a "significant contribution" to Ukraine's air defense.

Despite this, on July 23, German officials stated that the Patriot defense systems mentioned by US President Donald Trump would not arrive in Ukraine before the spring of 2026.
