Chasiv Yar has turned into a ghost town, where no signs of life remain among completely destroyed buildings and empty streets, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Situation in the city

Footage released by Ukraine’s Border Guard Service shows Ukrainian border guards moving through the destroyed town in armored vehicles.

The city’s panorama consists entirely of shattered concrete, craters, and ruins left from residential areas.

Total emptiness surrounds the area. Despite the roar of engines, there are no civilians or intact infrastructure on the streets. Movement is only possible in armored vehicles due to deep mud and debris blocking the roads.

The State Border Guard Service notes the catastrophic scale of destruction caused by Russian aggression.

"Empty streets, shattered concrete, the roar of armored vehicles, mud under the wheels, and no signs of life anywhere," border guards describe the current state of the city.

Situation in the Donetsk region

Russian forces continue attempts to seize the Donetsk region, but Ukraine’s Defense Forces are disrupting enemy plans and carrying out successful counterattacks. In particular, small arms fighting is ongoing in the southeastern part of the village of Hryshyne in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian troops are actively eliminating assault units with artillery and drone support.

Clashes are also ongoing in Chasiv Yar. Earlier reports said Russian troops are trying to build up infantry in the city, using snowfall as cover to move reinforcements. Despite this, Ukrainian defenders continue to eliminate enemy personnel and equipment.

At the same time, according to Pavlo Palisa, commander of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, Russia’s gains in Donbas remain largely symbolic, while Russian forces are suffering significant losses in attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses.
