During a massive Russian attack on the night of June 6, a hotel in Lutsk was damaged where part of the Ukrainian national athletics team was staying, according to a statement from the Ukrainian Athletics Federation.

Which hotel in Lutsk the athletes were staying at

According to the information published by the Federation, one of the targets hit in Lutsk during the combined enemy attack (which lasted from 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM Kyiv time) was the Motor Hotel.

It is noted that this is where part of the Ukrainian athletics team, including the core members of the national squad, had been staying.

"Six missiles and fifteen Shahed drones were launched at residential areas and the city center," the statement specifies.

What is known about the impact on the Ukrainian team

The Ukrainian Athletics Federation reported that the athletes had come to Lutsk to participate in the national team championship.

"Fortunately, there are no casualties or injuries among the athletes," the public was informed.

At the same time, the Federation once again called on the international community to "pay urgent attention to the crimes committed by the Russian army on the territory of Ukraine."

The post concludes that "Ukraine has stood and will continue to stand and fight for its independence and truth. "

NOC's reaction

Shortly after, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) press service of Ukraine also confirmed the strike on the hotel in Lutsk where Ukrainian athletes were staying.

The NOC emphasized that it "continues to call on the global sports community" not to turn a blind eye to:

  • The war that Russia has launched against Ukraine.
  • The crimes that the Russian army continues to commit daily on our territory.

"We once again stress Ukraine's unwavering position: as long as Russian troops, supported by the Belarusian regime, continue their criminal war against the Ukrainian people, Russian and Belarusian athletes must be banned from participating in international competitions in any capacity — including under a neutral status," the NOC statement concluded.

Earlier, the Spokesperson of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, reported that on the night of June 6, Russia carried out a combined strike across Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles.

Following the Russian attack, Kyiv experienced a transport collapse—there were significant disruptions in metro services, traffic jams on several roads, and long lines for public transport. Taxi prices in the capital surged significantly.
