Russian forces have concentrated tens of thousands of troops in the Pokrovsk direction. This section of the front is the enemy’s top priority, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said.

"In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy has concentrated around 99,000 personnel," the general stated.

According to him, this is the largest Russian troop grouping among all frontline directions.

"This is a huge number. We are doing everything possible to reduce it," Syrskyi said.

Situation in the Pokrovsk direction

A few days ago, a source within Ukraine’s Defense Forces familiar with the situation in the Pokrovsk direction said that Ukrainian troops may carry out a controlled withdrawal from Myrnohrad, as the situation there is currently much more difficult than in Pokrovsk.

At the same time, the source clarified that Ukrainian forces would not withdraw from Pokrovsk itself.

It is worth noting that Russian forces have been trying for a long time to take control of Pokrovsk, but so far they have failed.

In December 2025, the Commander-in-Chief said there had been a moment during the year when Ukrainian troops were no longer present in Pokrovsk, but they later returned to the city and pushed Russian forces out of their positions.
