Ukrainian Armed Forces: Russians tried to gain foothold in Kupiansk but were destroyed
The Russians took advantage of the thick fog to advance to the borders of residential areas in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region. In the end, the Ukrainian Defense Forces prevented them from gaining a foothold, says Captain Yurii Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles battalion of the 92nd separate assault brigade named after Kish Otaman Ivan Sirko of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Fedorenko, the Russian troops, taking advantage of the fog, advanced close to residential areas, but were detected in time. At first, the Defense Forces of Ukraine hit Russia's armored vehicles - a tank and 2 armored personnel carriers. Then, over several hours, they finished off the infantrymen.
“Those who managed to escape were also eliminated within the next 5-6 hours. As of today, there is no Russians in Kupiansk on the Left Bank. The situation is very complicated, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces control the situation,” notes the military.
Fedorenko also reminded that the Russians failed to capture Kupiansk by November 1 and now expect to do so at least by the New Year.
“Every day and every night there is fierce resistance because Russians are trying to accomplish the task. Initially, he was supposed to capture Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi and Kupiansk Livoberezhnyi by November 1. Now the deadlines have been shifted, Russia has not fulfilled this task, and now they have to complete the task by the New Year,” he explains.
Russians attempt to break through to Kupiansk
On November 13, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian troops attempted to advance in the area of Kupiansk. Russian occupiers, some of whom were wearing Ukrainian army uniforms, tried to attack in several waves. However, the Ukrainian military successfully repelled the assaults, stopping Russia after 4 consecutive attacks.
Later, DeepState showed a video of the Russian attack on Kupiansk. The analysts said that Ukrainian soldiers destroyed Russian equipment, but about 15 occupants fled to their homes in Kupiansk.
