In the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol, there has been an explosion on the Russian Black Sea Fleet ship Pavel Derzhavin, according to a report from the Telegram channel "Krymskyi Veter."

According to the channel's information, the ship Pavel Derzhavin may have been detonated by a mine. Several subscribers from Sevastopol reported that they heard a muffled explosion around 10 in the morning.

Later in the day, representatives from the channel discovered a ship and a boat at sea near Sevastopol. Judging by the size of the ship, approximately 60 meters, it could indeed have been a minesweeper.

What is said in the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The spokesperson for the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Bratchuk, has posted information about the ship's detonation. He added that the ship "reportedly detonated on a mine."

Natalia Humeniuk, the Head of the United Coordinating Press Center of Security and Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, has also expressed her stance while emphasizing the need for clarification regarding the situation.

"Given the disorderliness displayed by the representatives of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, having meetings in the wrong place at times or navigating in the wrong direction at sea, anything is possible. We are in the process of clarifying the circumstances," emphasized Natalia Humeniuk, the Head of the United Coordinating Press Center of Security and Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine.

Ship explosion

In Sevastopol, for unknown reasons, the patrol ship Pavel Derzhavin, Project 22160, type Vasylyi Bykov, has exploded.

The armament of the ship includes:

  • 8 launchers for Kalibr-NK cruise missiles,

  • 2 launchers for Redut-M anti-aircraft missiles,

  • 2 A-190 100-millimeter caliber artillery installations,

  • 2 RBU-6000 rocket bomb launchers,

  • 2 torpedo tubes with a caliber of 533 millimeters.

The addition of the Tor-M2KM anti-aircraft missile system to the armament of the Pavel Derzhavin in June 2022 during the full-scale war in Ukraine indicates efforts to enhance its air defense capabilities.

In September, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reportedly targeted the repair plant named after Ordzhonikidze in Simferopol and damaged the landing ship Minsk and the submarine Rostov-on-Don. According to media reports, these strikes were carried out using Storm Shadow missiles. These events are part of the ongoing conflict and military operations in the region.
