Ukrainian Armed Forces implementing military innovations faster than US - Congress
Ukraine is implementing military technologies and innovative concepts at a pace that even the US government cannot match. This is happening despite significant threats from Russia, stated Jane Harman, Chair of the US National Defense Strategy Commission, during hearings in the US Congress.
According to her, the United States needs to increase investments in national security and change funding priorities to enhance efficiency.
Harman believes that changes must be encouraged because Ukraine and Russia are implementing battlefield innovations in weeks, not years. She added that she saw this firsthand during her visit to Kyiv last week and earlier in April. If the Department of Defense cannot move at the same speed and scale, it will lose, Harman said.
At the same time, she believes that the US can learn from Ukraine how to implement military innovations quickly. Harman stated that Ukraine's experience can teach its partners how to create affordable unmanned systems.
According to her, the US cannot continue to fund things that don't have the same value as new software. Ukraine can teach the US some lessons, particularly how to build a drone for $350.
It's worth noting that, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine used more drones than Russia in July. He also mentioned that Ukraine plans to increase the production of long-range drones.
