Ukrainian air force reveals scale of Russian attack: Number of missiles and drones shot down

Russia launched 187 drones at Ukraine during the night of May 7. Russian forces also attacked Ukraine with five ballistic missiles, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Yuriy Ignat, Head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command.
In particular, Ignat noted that from the evening of May 6, Russia launched 187 strike UAVs and decoy drones at Ukraine. Of these, air defense forces destroyed 81 drones. Another 64 drones were lost locally.
"The information may be updated, plus or minus 1–2 drones may be changed," the Ukrainian military added.
According to Ignat, last night the Russians launched five ballistic missiles at Ukraine. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had reported four missiles.
"Today, five ballistic missiles, either Iskander-M or KN23, were also used (by Russia - ed.) Later, experts who will study the debris will say what type of missiles these were. Two ballistic missiles were shot down today by air defense," Ihnat said.
Consequences of Russia's attack
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that on the night of May 7, the Russians launched four ballistic missiles and 142 drones at Ukraine, half of which were Shahed UAVs. However, as the Ukrainian Air Force clarified, Russia used more drones and missiles.
This night, Kyiv was under enemy attack. At first, the occupiers launched ballistic missiles at the capital. The enemy missile was shot down, but its fragments fell in the Solomianskyi district.
The consequences of Russia's attack were recorded in several districts. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, due to a drone strike, a mother and son born in 1960 and 1997 were killed. Due to the drone attack in the capital, seven people were injured, four of whom were children.
