Ukrainian air defense system destroys 19 Russian drones over Sumy region
On the night of October 23, the Ukrainian military shot down 19 Russian kamikaze drones over Sumy region. Air defense work is ongoing, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
“Last night, on October 23, air defense units of the Land Forces, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, border guards, and volunteers shot down 19 Russian Shahed drones in the sky over the Sumy region,” the statement says.
In total, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners have destroyed 394 Russian UAVs over the region.
“Anti-aircraft battles continue! Take care of yourself and your families, do not neglect safety rules,” the administration adds.
Russian shelling of Sumy region
Russian troops are constantly shelling the Sumy region. The Russian occupiers attack the border areas most of all.
On the night of October 21, Russia launched air strikes on a critical infrastructure facility in the Romny district of Sumy region. As a result of the Russian shelling, several settlements were left without electricity.
In addition, on the morning of October 20, Russian troops attacked a power facility in Sumy region. More than 100 settlements were left without electricity.
