Ukrainian air defense shoots down 420 targets in Russian attack on energy sector

On the night of October 10, Russia launched a large-scale combined attack on Ukrainian territory, using strike drones and various types of missiles, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, radio-technical troops detected and tracked 497 aerial targets.
Among them:

465 Shahed and Gerbera-type drones;

2 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
-
14 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
-
12 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
-
4 Kh-59/69 guided air missiles.
The launches were carried out from the territory of the Russian Federation — from the areas of Kursk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Oryol, Shakhty, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from temporarily occupied Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and drone units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of 10:00 a.m. local time, Ukrainian air defense shot down or suppressed 420 aerial targets:

405 Shahed, Gerbera, and other types of enemy UAVs;

1 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile;

4 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
-
9 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
-
1 Kh-59/69 guided air missile.
In addition, four Russian missiles failed to reach their targets.
Direct hits were recorded from 13 missiles and 60 drones in 19 locations, as well as debris impacts on seven objects.
As of 10:40 a.m., enemy drones were still being detected in Ukrainian airspace.
October 10 attack
On the night of Friday, October 10, Russia conducted a massive bombardment of Ukrainian territory, using strike drones and various types of missiles.
During the shelling of Kyiv, 12 people were injured. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the strikes caused a total power outage on the city’s left bank.
Zaporizhzhia also came under enemy fire — fires broke out there, and civilians were injured. A seven-year-old boy was killed in Zaporizhzhia.
According to preliminary information, the main target of the strikes was energy infrastructure facilities.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the night, the enemy used more than 450 drones and over three dozen missiles. The attack was aimed at facilities that ensure the normal life of Ukrainians.
