Ukraine will have to 'smoke out' Russians from Crimea - National Security and Defense secretary
According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksii Danilov, shelling of the occupied Crimea will persist until Ukraine frees the peninsula from the occupiers.
He said that Crimea would be liberated in the manner Ukraine deems necessary.
"As of today, it appears that if the Russians do not voluntarily leave Crimea, we will have to 'smoke them out' using the weapons at our disposal," Danilov said.
Commenting on the shelling of Crimea, Danilov recalled the missile program initiated in 2020, which, according to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, is yielding results.
"Some of the weaponry that strikes the enemy on our territory, particularly in Crimea, is the result of our missile program and our state-of-the-art developments, which are no less advanced than Western models," he added.
Danilov also ridiculed the Russians who claim that the Triumph air defense system is supposedly indestructible because it "defends itself."
"Practical experience has shown that what is needed and what our defense industry enterprises produce frequently find their way there, for which we are greatly appreciative," emphasized the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
Attacks on Crimea
Recalling the events, on September 13, Ukrainian forces targeted a ship repair yard in Sevastopol. The attack resulted in damage to the diesel-electric submarine Rostov-on-Don and the landing ship Minsk.
The following day, Ukraine's military counterintelligence and the Ukrainian Navy conducted a unique special operation. Defenders used drones and missiles to destroy the Russian air defense system "Triumph," valued at 1.2 billion dollars, near Yevpatoriya.
