The previous cycle ended unsuccessfully for the national team, as they failed to qualify for EuroBasket 2025.
As a result, Ainars Bagatskis' team begins the new qualification cycle from one of the lowest levels of European qualification.
Following the draw, the blue-and-yellow team was placed in Group A, where they will face national teams from Switzerland and Slovakia. Two of the three teams will advance to the next round, while the last-place team will drop to the lowest division.
