Ukraine has laser technologies that can already strike certain targets at specific altitudes, said the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Vadym Sukharevskyi, in his interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

According to him, the Unmanned Systems Forces are constantly evolving, as this is one of the main tasks of the department.

Sukharevskyi stated that the command's innovative activities encompass several areas. One of these focuses on countering enemy aircraft and unmanned aerial systems, including efforts to find solutions for combating Shahed drones. He noted that the teams actively working in this field were found.

"Laser technologies are now already striking certain targets at specific altitudes," Sukharevskyi added.

In 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tasked the Cabinet of Ministers and the General Staff with establishing the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate branch within the structure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. During the summer, Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi was appointed as the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces.

Recently, Sukharevskyi revealed that Ukraine possesses a laser weapon Tryzub, which is capable of shooting down aircraft at distances exceeding 2 kilometers.
