Today, December 15, the second round of negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations on the US peace plan to end the war began in Germany, according to RBC-Ukraine sources.
Negotiations between the Ukrainian delegation, led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, have resumed in Berlin.
According to sources, talks that began yesterday, December 14, and lasted several hours, are continuing today.
Peace agreement discussions
The White House intends to reach a peace agreement by the end of 2025. Recently, information has emerged that the parties are discussing three key initiatives: a framework document, a security guarantee agreement, and a document defining the principles of post-war reconstruction.
Yesterday, December 14, a meeting between the Ukrainian and US delegations took place in Berlin.
The meeting in Berlin between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US Special Representative Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and delegations from the United States and Ukraine lasted over 5 hours.
At the meeting, the US pressed for a peace agreement by the end of the year, but there are significant differences between the parties, especially regarding control over territories in Donbas.
According to media reports, negotiations between Ukraine and its Western partners have turned into a tug-of-war, even without Russia's participation at the negotiating table.
Washington insists on quick decisions, while Zelenskyy and his European supporters argue that there are still significant differences that need to be resolved.
