Ukraine-US talks in Riyadh
The second meeting of the delegations of Ukraine and the United States took place in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, March 23. According to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, this time the talks were more technical.
Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that during the meeting, the parties were to discuss proposals for the security of energy and infrastructure facilities.
According to The New York Times, this time the talks in Riyadh will last two days. On Sunday, the talks were held between Ukraine and the United States, and today they are to be held between Washington and Moscow. A Ukrainian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that additional talks between the Ukrainian and American sides could take place today, but everything depends on progress.
The purpose of this meeting is to agree on the details of a possible partial ceasefire (cessation of attacks on the energy sector, and navigation in the Black Sea), which could be a decisive step toward a complete cessation of hostilities.
