Ukraine urges Poland to resume talks with allies on defending Ukrainian skies

Andrii Sibiga, Ukraine's acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski following the intrusion of a Russian missile into Polish territory.
Sybiha notes that Ukraine is ready to provide Poland with all necessary assistance in investigating the incident.
Both Ministers agreed that strengthening Ukraine’s air defense should be an urgent priority for the entire Euro-Atlantic community.
"I also suggested to resume talks with other allies on all possible ways to protect Ukraine’s airspace with the involvement of partners. We are talking not about charity, but about pragmatic solutions to improve our shared security," the acting Foreign Minister says.
In his view, today’s missile incursion into Polish territory also serves as a stark reminder of the horrific reality both countries are facing.
"It is time to focus on countering acute threats in the present rather than divisive debates about the past. We noted the positive outcomes of yesterday’s meeting between President Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Tusk and spoke about the implementation of their agreements." Sybiha adds.
Russian missile in Poland
Last night, July 30, an air raid alert was issued in eastern Poland due to a Russian attack on western regions of Ukraine. Later, reports emerged that one or two missiles may have briefly entered Polish airspace.
Later, in the Lublin Voivodeship, residents heard powerful explosions. Subsequently, a large crater was discovered in a field near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia, which likely formed after an unknown object fell.
Andriy Sybiha, Ukraine’s acting Foreign Minister, stated that a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile flew over Polish territory overnight.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that a coordination group would be urgently convened in Poland on July 30 following a violation of Polish airspace by an unidentified object.
